my top five things that make me happy.
We allow the negative to dominate our thoughts and actions far too often. This discontent constantly replays in your mind. You go to sleep and wake up each day feeling the same way. It’s a never-ending loop, and if you don’t break out of the hamster wheel, you’ll never get out.
Let me share with you five things that make me happy.
Coffee Table Books
You know those books where you need both hands to flip through the pages? I love those; they make me happy. Because they are not on a screen, you can feel each page, read the captions, and see every detail of the photograph, painting, art, or print. Reading, paging, and becoming completely immersed in a beautiful hardcover book immerses you in the present moment.
Conversations
Over a cup of coffee, a cup of tea, or a video chat with your best friend in Canada. Profound, thought-provoking, and engaging discussions Laughing so hard that you almost pee in your pants (as you get older) and gasping for air. Hearing other people’s stories, listening, and sharing valuable advice or life experiences Accepting responsibility for our mistakes and the incredible journeys we’ve undertaken. Being genuine, honest, and surrounded by people who share your moral compass, I am forever grateful to have many humans around me who fulfil this.
Cats
Since I was a kid, I’ve had a serious obsession with all kinds of animals. Birds, wild animals, and marine life abound, but mostly cats. My kids are two and thirteen years old. Both are male in tuxedos and have long hair. I adore them and love how they manage to blend in with my space and drop by when I’m working on a hectic African proposal. And you constantly exude love and kindness. They are extremely affectionate, and I doubt I could live without Marley and Sully.
Chilli
Fresh chillies? Scrambled eggs with fresh chilli are delicious. Daily spicy ginger shots prevent illness. Everybody needs chilies. Chili peppers are high in vitamins and minerals, but they’re rarely eaten in large quantities. Chilli cures hangovers and warms in winter. Enough said?
Camera
Finally, my best and most faithful friend is my camera. So, I can photograph life, nature, and my travels. When you see life through a lens. Always composing the perfect photo. Nonetheless, I can’t spend hours on a subject, therefore take photographs as I go. I share my special places. I love photography.
