Living so close to Kalk Bay, it’s my go to for bakery, shopping for a special outfit and walking through the nooks and cranny’s, finding gems. This Bohemian Seaside town does not disappoint.

Full of coffee shops, bakeries, delis and lots of places to shop!  You must visit this charming town.

Without a doubt, a picturesque village with a working harbour.  Kalk Bay beckons travellers with its unique blend of natural beauty, rich history, and vibrant local culture. This quaint seaside destination has earned a reputation as a must visit! Ultimately, captivating visitors with its charming harbour, eclectic shops, and breathtaking ocean views.

A Seaside Haven:

Kalk Bay’s coastal location is a defining feature that sets it apart from other destinations. Uniquely, the village is embraced by the cool waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Giving you a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. As the waves gently crash against the shore, And the fishing boats coming in and going out to the surfers taking on Dangers Beach.  You will always be entertained.  However, you are also welcomed by the soothing sounds and invigorating sea breeze. There are two tidal pools, Dale Brook Tidal Pool, and Wooley’s Tidal pool.  There are many funky Villas, Bed and breakfasts and Airbnb to rent for a holiday.

Historical Roots:

Besides, the quaint town, Kalk Bay boasts a rich history that adds depth to its character. Originally established as a fishing community in the 17th century. The village has retained its maritime charm through the centuries. Stroll through the cobbled streets lined with colorful Victorian-era buildings, and you’ll find remnants of Kalk Bay’s seafaring past, from historic cottages to old-fashioned fisherman’s wharves.

Charming Harbour:

Another key point is in the heart of Kalk Bay lies in its bustling harbour.  Coupled with, fishing boats that bob on the water, seagulls circle overhead, and fishermen mend their nets. Seals nap in the sun, This vibrant hub is not only a working harbor but also a delightful place to explore. Watch the boats come and go, sample freshly caught seafood at one of the waterfront eateries, or simply enjoy the panoramic views of the ocean. Or grab a local fish and chips with a sea view!

Enjoy a leisurely meal with a view of the ocean, and you’ll understand why Kalk Bay is not just a feast for the eyes but for your taste buds too. Not to mention, one of my favourite places to eat is at Satori’s, they serve the best pork belly!  Slow Roasted with a plate full of vegetables.

Lastly, the embrace of the sea, steeped in history and infused with artistic flair. This village is a captivating destination that transcends the ordinary.  The walls are hand-painted with mandala artwork and the shops are so funky.
