Winelands Wander

January 18, 2022

The Winelands is full of exciting activities, exceptional food and wine, beautiful scenery and landscapes.

The vistas and landscapes, old Cape Dutch buildings rich in history and culture ensures that you will never go hungry, thirsty, and bored!

My recommendation is you must make a weekend out of the Winelands, do not go for a day, stay over in one of the gorgeous self-catering Orchard cottages at Boschendal Winelands. That way you can drink as much as you want without worry, you can uber to your hotel, or take the Franschhoek tram. Boschendal has a safe place for your family to play, have exceptional adventures and a special place to make memories.

Boschendal is a working farm where you can enjoy all the family friendly fun that the farm has to offer.

From award-winning wine and food experiences to exploring the spectacular landscape by foot, horse riding or mountain biking.  Also, for some well-deserved downtime in tranquil surroundings. Whether it be a lunch-time picnic or late afternoon swim in the dam. Boschendal is your one-stop shop for things to do in Franschhoek.

The Boschendal Picnic is my favourite, this gourmet picnic is served to you in a wicker basket, with a blankie, back chairs and a feast! Highly recommend you buy a bottle of their Sauvignon Blanc and sip away, munching on delicious breads, pates, salads, and desert.

The staff are friendly and provide five-star service! This takes a lengthily 2 – 3 hours. And spend time on this working farm, walking your lunch off!  Shop at their deli, they have the best free range lamb chops.

Another one of my personal favourites is the Waterford Wine Drive. The Wine Drive Safari is a unique three-hour trip on our safari-type vehicle. Ambling through the 120-hectare Estate on the beautiful slopes of the Helderberg mountain. This experience allows the chance to taste our award-winning Estate wines amongst the vineyards of their origin. Givin you the oppurtinity to be guided through what makes this area so biologically diverse and viticulturist unique.

The wine tasting will be accompanied by various light snacks, which are well suited to pair with the individual wines. The experience will culminate with the Wine and Chocolate Tasting, back at the winery.

So, I conclude, book a romantic weekend away with your partner. Or a group of friends, celebrate life, wine and good food.

Get some responsible sun and enjoy the fresh air the Cape Winelands has to offer you.
