Being in the travel industry I get to go on site inspections.  When I heard it was Cellars-Hohenort, I was thrilled.  It’s a beautiful old grand dame.  With well-established gardens and great attentive staff, it looks glamourous with its new refurb!

Let’s talk about this beautiful hotel – The Cellars-Hohenort

The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel in Constantia is a luxurious retreat 15 minutes from Cape Town’s top attractions. I love this hotel as it is so close to both the city and the sea, Muizenberg‘s side.  If you travel in high season, trust me, you don’t want to stay at the Waterfront.  It’s overpriced and so busy! Overcrowded, queues and so much traffic.  You don’t have to navigate hundreds and thousands of holidaymakers.   Nestled in the picturesque Constantia Valley, this hotel uniquely blends history, elegance, and natural beauty.

The Hotel

First, the hotel is surrounded by nine acres of stunning gardens. These gardens are a highlight, offering guests a peaceful and tranquil environment. At this hotel, you have a holiday!  You can stroll through the lush greenery, admire the ancient trees, or relax by the koi ponds. The gardens are also home to a small vineyard and a rose garden, adding to the hotel’s charm. Sit at the heated pool, and enjoy the space, peace, and 5-star service!

The Conservatory

Next, The Cellars-Hohenort is known for The Conservatory. Here, you can enjoy delicious dishes while overlooking the gardens. The hotel also hosts delightful high teas, a highlight for many visitors. Served in the Greenhouse or on the terrace, the high tea features a selection of finger sandwiches, scones, and pastries, all beautifully presented. It’s situated in such a pretty garden that you feel like you could be joining the mad hatter at his tea party!  I recommend you have a good walk through the gardens after your high tea.  Get some steps in as the food is yummy!

The Breakfast

Oh my, the breakfast. So many options such as little time.  You are presented with a beautiful cold buffet-styled breakfast.  This includes fruits, cold meats, cheeses, yogurts and so much more.  Even Ginger Shots to get you through a day.  And then you have the hot menu-style breakfast.  I ate the Banting Benedict.  The hollandaise was creamy and velvety.  I was left full and satisfied!

Where is this hotel situated?

Additionally, the hotel’s location is ideal for exploring Cape Town. It’s a short drive from top spots like Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront, and the beaches of Camps Bay. This makes it easy to experience the best of the city while staying in a serene setting. The hotel also offers you a shuttle service, so if you do wish to get to the Waterfront you can.  Sit back and enjoy the ride!  However, I do believe that once you get there, you might not want to go anywhere.  It’s important to note, you are on holiday!

I like boutique-style hotels. The Cellars-Hohenort does not look like a traditional-style hotel. It looks homely and classic. The mountainous backdrop, greenery, and what appears to be a winery in the front, make it even more appealing. Not to mention, the easy access to the beaches in Camps Bay. I am a big Food Explora. I would love to explore the authentic food culture of Cape Town. The continental breakfast and pastries look delicious. I would book this hotel. Thank you for sharing your review.
