Exploring the Vibrant Street Art of Old Phuket Town
Phuket, the largest island in Thailand. Is primarily known for its pristine beaches, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant nightlife.
Phuket beachfront is too crowded for me. There are too many tourists misbehaving and getting drunk. It’s a great education to see it once, but that’s enough for me.
With this in mind, the island’s cultural capital, Old Phuket Town, offers a treasure trove of mesmerizing street art. I have found that often goes unnoticed by tourists flocking to the popular seaside destinations. For art enthusiasts and those seeking something beyond the typical beach experience. Exploring the captivating world of Old Phuket Town’s Street art is a must.
Found in the heart of Phuket, Old Phuket Town represents an eclectic blend of Thai, Chinese, and European influences. Entertaining tourists with its colourful buildings and rich heritage. With attention to find street art and a vibrant community of local and international artists.
Firstly, wear comfortable walking shoes. If it’s very hot, take an umbrella and wear sunblock. One of the most exciting aspects of exploring Old Phuket Town’s Street art is the element of surprise.
For this reason, your eyes are continuously drawn to stunning murals and hidden art gems. Making photography fun and exciting! These artworks decorate building facades, doorways, and even entire shop houses. Most of these, larger-than-life masterpieces blend seamlessly with Phuket’s unique architectural features. Creating an artistic atmosphere that is truly one of a kind.
Surprisingly, Old Phuket Town has many coffee shops, coffee is enormous there! Definitely, brought in by the farangs! As I don’t do coffee, I stopped at many really beautiful cafes for fresh juices, iced teas and little rests! The creativity is enchanting!
Over the top walls of plastic flowers, ceilings of umbrellas and neon signage. Almost a competition. Particularly, the younger crowd, with their selfie sticks creating Instagram and TikTok reels. It’s fascinating to watch! Oh, and on the positive side, try the coconut ice Cream! It’s to die for!
If you love art, culture and food. Exploring the street art of Old Phuket Town is a must-do activity. It allows you to immerse yourself in the vibrant colours and creative expressions. By all means, it gives you a refreshing perspective on the island’s rich history and contemporary artistic influences.
Another key point to note, is you have a few foot massage places to stop into, just to give those old feet a little rub and rejuvenate! Especially, for more walking and exploring! We found Mandy’s Massage the most professional. I even fell asleep and snored myself awake at one point! Indeed, a funny memory, that we will laugh at in times to come.
