On Safari at Kwandwe

November 27, 2018

Being on safari in the wild, observing animals. Birds, fauna and flora is the reason I will never leave Africa. As I truly believe I have the wild in my blood.

Every time I am on safari, I become a chameleon, I can blend into any place, city or country.  I get lost in the motion and am fascinated by people, temples, colours and lots, lots more.

However, when I get to the bush, I literally glow.  I feel like I have come home.  My hearing and sight improve tenfold, and I become a supersonic woman with special powers.  I can hear the shrew that is bustling in the shrubs to the Cape Eagle Owl hooting in the distance.

I come alive.  It’s my peaceful place.

I am fearless yet extremely respectful. I am a very spiritual being and although I am not attached to a certain religion, I feel my God when I am in nature.  From every butterfly, I see to the way the male Impala forms his harem.  To of course my favourite, kingfishers.  The excitement of seeing anything that moves gets my body going.

The thrill of being on safari is exciting, I have learnt never to expect to see anything so that whatever we see is gob smacking. From the little five to the big five.  Birds, antelope and the special sightings as Bat-Eared Foxes. When you meet a lion and hear him roar, you will get goosebumps and be addicted almost immediately.

Check out my photographs whilst I have been on Safari.

The smell of the bush. The warmth of the sunlight, the beautiful colours of the sky, whether at sunrise or sunset. There is always a place in my heart for the bush.  It’s in my blood no doubt.
