Coy: A New African Fine Dining Gem
Discover Coy, the latest addition to the fine dining scene in Cape Town.
Found in the heart of the Victorian & Alfred Waterfront, this restaurant blends contemporary elegance with deep African roots. With breathtaking views of the bustling harbor and iconic Table Mountain, Coy offers a dining experience that delights all the senses.
COY is located between the eye-catching marina with its luxury yachts and the brute of fishing boats passing through the operational harbour of the V&A Waterfront. Situated on the water’s edge, Cape Town’s magnificent Table Mountain provides a beautiful backdrop for diners at any time of day.
A CAPTIVATING AMBIANCE
Without a doubt, Coy’s interior is a masterpiece of design. Rich earthy tones, natural textures, and modern African art create a warm yet sophisticated atmosphere. The open-plan dining room offers space, while soft lighting sets the mood for an unforgettable evening. As you savor your meal, panoramic views of the V&A Waterfront and the city skyline complete the scene.
EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE
From the moment you arrive, the service at Coy is flawless. They are knowledgeable about the menu. Happy to recommend the perfect pairing of dishes and wines. Every detail, from the crisp linen to the timing of courses. I was impressed by the server’s flow; my glass was never empty, yet the server didn’t constantly bug me. It’s like they were invisible! Just like pilots flying a being. Pure professionals.
THE FOOD
The menu at Coy is a celebration of African food in Cape Town, brought to life with a modern twist.
At COY, our food is about unearthing Africa’s often-overlooked treasures, from uncovering ancient cooking techniques to rediscovering culinary stories and exploring indigenous ingredients. As with all that Chef Ryan does, sustainability, seasonality, and a dedication to locality are the cornerstones of this offering.
MEET THE CHEF
COY marks the second restaurant by the award-winning South African Chef Ryan Cole, whose much-lauded flagship restaurant, Salsify at the Roundhouse, has become a staple of the country’s fine dining scene. For this project, the chef is joined in the kitchen by head chefs Geoffrey Abrahams and Teenola Govender, who have worked alongside him to create this one-of-a-kind experience.

The plating of the food looks very elegant. I am a Food Explora and would love to experience dining at COY; I love a good waterfront dining. The Ostrich dish sounds daunting, but interesting. Whenever I visit Cape Town, COY will be on the list of restaurants to dine.
